Mr. Jackson has been teaching high school English for eight years. His career in education began at Houston ISD’s Contemporary Learning Center, an alternative charter school which specialized in assisting students who were behind in their credits and no longer on the right track for timely graduation. There, he pushed his students to their limits, and as a result they made impressively high scores on the TAKS test several years in a row.
In 2008, Mr. Jackson was recognized by the Alternative Charter School Region as their Teacher of The Year, which made him one of only seven finalists to be considered for the very prestigious HISD District Teacher of The Year award. Mr. Jackson is a committed teacher who offers real-world experience as well as academic excellence to his students on a daily basis.
Prior to his classroom service, Mr. Jackson traveled the world as a professional SCUBA Instructor after serving in the military and working for many years as a Restaurant Manager in both Texas and his home state of New York. This is his second year at Sharpstown High School, and he is looking forward to celebrating his students’ imminent success on this year's STARR test!
Mr. Jackson earned his degree in Education from SUNY/Geneseo State University where he graduated with a double major in English and Public Relations.
