Ms. Sillah is no stranger to the field of Education.  Committed and determined to earn a degree,  after serving an enlistment in the Air force, that dream became a reality for Ms. Sillah after marriage, three children, and 27 years later!

Ms. Sillah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in  Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston-Downtown.  She earned a Masters of Science degree in Human Services, Consumer Sciences from Texas Southern University in May of 2007.

She is certified to teach English Language Arts and Reading in grades 8-12 and has been employed with Houston ISD for many years.

Drawings on her many years of experience in various positions working with adolescence has greatly prepared her for her assignment at Sharpstown High School.  Teaching English to high schoolers always gives her opportunities to expand the lessons. Not only does this connect text to prior knowledge, but it also makes the learning applicable to many real life lessons that kids need in order to face life’s challenges successfully in today’s world.

Finally, Ms. Sillah has had the privilege to be honored as Contemporary Learning Center’s Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2008 as well as having the opportunity to attend out-of-state conferences and trainings.
